For this series, Valentine explored the theme of the petal as an ode to spring. The colours merge into an abstract harmony and the supple forms unfold in a lively, floral spirit.

After a diploma in textile design (colour and material) at the Arts Décoratifs de Paris, Valentine Rosi Mistou specialised in textiles and developed more precise work around pattern and colour. It is this research that she now applies to clay. The graphic composition becomes a functional, decorative sculptural object.
MATERIALS : Earthenware
TECHNIQUE : Slab-built, then sculpted.
FIRING: Low temperature
GLAZE: The decorations are painted with a mix of engobe and glaze, followed by a clear cover glaze. The pigmented engobes are brushed onto the raw clay. After the first firing, the clear glaze is laid over the piece, and a second firing vitrifies it.
