Lovebuch
Katia Jacquet-Douek grew up between the Jura mountains and a village near Besançon. After studying at the Decorative Arts School in Strasbourg, she became creative director in various design agencies before founding the Stereochromie studio with Julien Douek. Questioning the meaning of objects and the energy they release, fascinated by the gesture of the craftsman, she aspires to reconnect with the material to create sculptural pieces that are also useful and durable objects, borrowing all the emotion. that drives their production. This is how the Lovebuch project was born: with the desire to infuse urbanity with an idea of the original forest, to delicately work the raw material, wood and earth to create a poetry of the objects that inhabit our daily lives. Katia works in her workshop in Les Lilas and in the Jura where the large pieces of wood are shaped.
In a quest for purity and permanence, Katia Jacquet-Douek designs functional ceramics in her studio at Lilas, in a vocabulary of geometric shapes. She is interested in the tension caused by the juxtaposition of architectural lines with the tactile minerality of the enamels she produces. In his work can be read influences from the Bauhaus, but also an attachment to the mountains and climbing, environments that force humility, force him to constantly find a point of balance. So many sources of inspiration that nourish useful and beautiful, essential objects, testimonies of a sincere commitment and a singular universe.
