Estudio Vernís is a workshop that celebrates craftsmanship and the unexpected beauty of clay and wood firing. Each piece is individually crafted by hand in their workshop nestled in the mountains of Alicante, Spain. Timeless, durable, and evolving ceramics, designed to be functional. The studio was founded in 2019 by Alejandra and Coke, a couple who studied architecture and decided they wanted to use their hands and natural resources to create something they identified with. They aspire to a world where every object carries the traces of the hands that made it. This is why their fingerprints are present at every stage of the process, from pinching the clay to formulating ash-based glazes or splitting wood, leaving a mark in a durable and natural material, using primitive techniques and local resources.

FIRING: Wood-fired to cone 10 in an oxidizing atmosphere with pine wood
TECHNIQUE: Slab, cutting and hollowing
GLAZE: Glazed and unglazed parts, marked by ash during wood firing
COLOR: Satin white and raw clay
