Stoneware soap dish A2607 L 10cm - blue and black
Piece made in Julia Gilles' studio
The wild textures, organic forms and raw colours Julia Gilles works with come from her own reading of the world. Her pieces draw on the landscapes she observes, their nuances and their contours.
Her stoneware work runs on two tracks: tableware on one side, one-of-a-kind decorative and large-format pieces on the other. The pieces are shaped using a range of techniques — wheel-throwing, slab-building, coiling, press-moulding. Once dry, they are glazed intuitively with a brush and single-fired in a gas kiln at 1300°C.
