Samantha Kerdine lives and works in Paris. Trained in design, she develops ceramic work that straddles the line between use and image.
Her pieces take the form of vases, plates, paintings, or more free-form volumes. She is interested in domestic objects and ordinary scenes—what makes up everyday life, what passes by. Painting on ceramics is, for her, a way of fixing in the material what would otherwise disappear.
Designed to be held, placed, and hung, her works explore a tactile relationship with art, between sculpture and motif, function and contemplation. The boundary between the utilitarian object and the artistic piece is a terrain she cultivates without seeking to resolve it.
For the arrival of sunny days, she imagines the Sunday lunch table and designs around twenty dishes, each one as colorful as the next. Featuring motifs of seasonal fruits, vegetables, and flowers, this series invites art to sit at the table—to use it.
These pieces, specially edited by Brutal, will not be restocked. The selection is therefore unique and exclusive.
