Plate made by hand in Héloïse Bariol's studio in Rouen.
Héloïse has set up a production of utilitarian pieces. Unique or in small series, they are made in red earthenware, wheel-thrown or hand-built. More or less slip-coated, decorated with washes of metal oxides and industrial colourants, glazed and fired in an electric kiln at around 1050°.
Through the production of ceramic volumes — most often everyday objects such as bowls, plates, platters and jugs — Héloïse Bariol seeks out dialogues between forms and colours, as well as a field of interactions between user, object and surrounding space. In search of mobility, she questions the porosity between different categories — utilitarian/sculpture, painting/sculpture, flat/volume — exploring the material possibilities that ceramics offer her.
