This piece is handmade in Judith Lasry's workshop in Burgundy for Brutal Ceramics
Judith lives and works in the heart of the Burgundy countryside, in the Puisaye-Forterre region, a region rich in pottery traditions that she has known since childhood. Her grandparents founded a music and improvisation school in the 1970s. After China, Paris, and Brussels, she moved there in 2017 and found it a space conducive to creativity and greater independence. A form of freedom and abandonment that she constantly seeks and questions, in her relationship with time, the living, the habitat, and her surroundings.
Her approach to ceramics is instinctive and inspiring, giving shape to unique objects that we share and allow to enter our daily rituals. The use of natural materials and primary techniques are the quintessence of her creative universe, hand modeling local clays, integration of ash, ochre, marl, collective wood firing, etc.
At each stage of her process, she integrates audacity and a hint of the unexpected, breaking certain codes with poetry.
