Plate made by hand in the studio of potter Atsushi Funakushi in Japan. Atsushi is a ceramicist based in Kasama, Japan. After completing an apprenticeship and working with the Japanese ceramist, Yoshiki Sakai, he moved into his workshop.
He creates pottery with a texture, often silvery and metal-like, which defies the materiality of ceramics. Fluffy and soft, its white pottery which contrasts with the previous one.
The emphasis with the use of a traditional ceramic technique called “metsuchi”. She incorporates ridges in place of feet to produce pattern-like designs.
