Sandstone piece handmade by Marie Hulbert
Marie Hulbert (Quartz Ceramics) works the land of Fuilet. It is a crushed earth extracted in Maine et Loire which allows him to make coil pieces. She likes to think that creation is the act of bringing something into existence. Marie therefore wanted to further her research into the technique of coil editing to develop a method allowing her to reveal a frame, that of her fingers. Giving his pieces an organic appearance, sometimes stripping them of their usefulness or function.
The effect also allows it to partially glaze to play on the hollows and bumps of the earth. Allowing the integration of reliefs, contrasts of shine or dullness. The enamels she makes are composed, among other things, of ash that she collects. Marie Hulbert likes the idea of using few materials, few tools, knowing where they come from and if possible finding them or making them.
