Black Stoneware Mug 170ml - Black

Mug made by hand in the Studio Racines workshop in Paris

Philipp Kopatz created Studio Racines in 2018. He works in his Parisian studio where he shapes each piece by hand using the turning technique. Visually impaired, this young designer develops his work through contact with matter and the sensitivity of a particular touch. Remaining in formal simplicity, the same goes for the use of white or transparent enamels. The earth is then expressed by its natural shades and its different textures.

The use of stoneware fired at high temperature (1250°C) gives its pieces a particular resistance and density.
In smooth or chamotte sandstone, all its pieces evolve with use and use over time and make each piece even more unique and personal.

Be careful not to let greasy things come into contact with the raw outer surface of the part. Chamotted sandstone is a more porous earth than smooth earth, so it remains more delicate and can absorb and mark. A trace deposit (e.g. coffee, tea on glaze and grease on unglazed stoneware) may settle over time, but is easily removed by applying paste products such as clay stone or stoneware. silver.

NOTE: Like any handcrafted product, these pieces may have slight variations in shape, color and thickness. Due to its use and its washings, the earth will acquire a patina and will slightly change its appearance and texture over time.
