Piece made by hand in the workshop of Estudio Vernis in Spain.
MATERIALS : Chamotted white sandstone
COOKING : over a wood fire at cone 10 in an oxidizing atmosphere with pine wood.
Each piece is baked in the wood-fired oven they built in their garden. They bake them twice, first at 1000 ºC for baking the biscuit, then at 1300 ºC for baking the enamel. Their oven is an Olsen Fastfire wood-fired, downdraft oven.
It uses low density insulating bricks, which are therefore very light and do not heat up too much during cooking, so that most of the heat from the fire stays inside. The cooking chamber remains quite small compared to other wood-fired ovens: 40x40x90 cm. This allows them to deliver pieces to order within a reasonable time and to fire their pieces in a short time. Cookies take about 5 hours to bake, and glazes about the same time.
