Hasami Porcelain

Matte natural japanese mug

€31,00

Hasami, a city located in the prefecture of Nagasaki on the island of Kyushu in Japan, is renowned for being one of the most popular regions for ceramics. Porcelain was developed in this region over 400 years ago during the Edo period.

Hasami Porcelain was born under the direction of Japanese Takuhiro Shinomoto (who opened the California store Tortoise in 2003).
Introduced in 2012, each piece features aesthetically clean and modern lines while being deeply rooted in traditional Japanese pottery design.

Its main appeal lies not only in its form, but also in its functional design, its ease of nesting for serving food and its storage efficiency in areas where space is limited.

The products integrate tradition and modernity in tableware. The charm of Hasami Porcelain lies in the texture, the matt, sometimes shiny natural colors. Hasami Porcelain is made from a mixture of clay and porcelain. An enamel has been specially developed to keep this naturally matte look. Inspired by traditional Japanese lacquered boxes, these products are easy to store by fitting one above the other.
The frank and modern character of its design allows it to be used daily.
