Teshima Toen is the name of the ceramic studio made up of a couple of a man and a woman (Ryuhei and Emi Matsushita). Their workshop is therefore located in Teshima, an isolated island in the Seto Inland Sea, in Kagawa Prefecture. This island has only 17 inhabitants.
Their works are made only from materials from Teshima, such as clay, plants and flowers.
The glaze they use is called Hai yu and is mainly made from plant and tree ashes.

TECHNIQUE : Make a shape with the potter's wheel and then press it into a mold. This method provides a thinner edge and a more delicate appearance.
